We get to take part in the sufferings of Jesus.
Who wants to suffer? I do not, everything in me says NOPE, I'M NOT SIGNING UP FOR THAT.
Why would this be in scripture? The truth is, I'm not 100 % sure, I can only imagine, as I have gone to the Lord with this, and reflect on the times, when I think about the children and what they have to endure right now, it has dropped me to my knees, countless times. Our first response to pain and suffering, is we tend to run from it, I know that's my flesh, and first response, but what does Jesus want? To suffer with HIM?
Jesus was moved to compassion, what if, we just let ourselves go to that place, that place that makes us cry out on our knees, and on our faces, where we know the only thing that can be done, cannot be done in me, but through my suffering, Jesus will be moved to compassion.
Perhaps crying out for Him to move, to bring justice, mercy, judgement, or whatever Gods word says about what is causing our hearts to break.
I could be wrong, but this is what I hear from scripture. Perhaps we can get to that place of being raw, real and broken before Him, and cry out to Him to respond accord to His will, we will know His will, when we read scripture, DAILY!!!
Shortest scripture in the Bible. "JESUS WEPT"
Lets take part in His suffering
